Is the food any good?
Campers are always surprised after their first meal at camp - they like the food! After watching movies about camp, people assume that all camp food is awful - we have proven this false. Since this is considered our ‘home', why would we want to eat horrible food all summer? Typical breakfast meals range from pancakes to scrambled eggs to waffles. Lunches include soups, various sandwiches, and good energizing food to get us through the day. Our dinners range from tacos to turkey and mashed potatoes to the all-time camp favorite, homemade pizza! There is always a salad bar option for dinner and a vegetarian option for all meals.

You should allow approximately 3 hours of driving time from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

Does camp provide health care?
There will be a registered nurse on site that can be utilized for smaller medical needs; however each family is responsible for the distribution of prescription and over the counter medicine. A first aid kit with some of the basic over the counter medicines will be available to you. Camp is 15 minutes away from clinics located in Pine River, Crosslake or Pequot Lakes and about 45 minutes away from a hospital or more specialized care in either Crosby or Brainerd if needed. Transportation for non emergency services is the responsibility of the family.
Mosquitoes: Regarding the West Nile Virus, which is transmitted from mosquitoes, research is finding that cases are both rare and mild. Symptoms that might be seen are fever, headaches, or body aches. For more information: Contact the American Academy of Pediatrics, (website: www.aap.org) or contact the camp office. Tick and Mosquito Packing Tips: To protect against both ticks and mosquitoes, please send light-weight pants, long-sleeve shirts, and a hat/bandana for your camper to wear when in the woods or on camping trips. When sending insect repellent containing DEET, a suggestion is to use a repellent with a DEET concentration between 15% and 30%.

Where will we be sleeping?
Each family will be assigned a cabin with 8-10 bunk beds, small lockers for hanging items, shelves, wood burning barrel stoves and outdoor clotheslines. The bathroom and shower facilities are a short distance from the cabin. All the cabins have electricity. You may request to stay in the same cabin with another family (this also decreases the cost). We will do the best we can to honor those requests. Some of the cabins are also adjoined to another cabin.
