We welcome our International Campers to the US and to Camp Foley.

The following is some additional information to aid parents in preparing for camp. Para español, haga clic aquí!

Flight Information

Campers flying to camp should plan their arrival into the St. Paul/Minneapolis International Airport (MSP) on the day before the start of the session. Foley Staff can meet flights arriving in the late afternoon or early evening of that day.  Campers will spend the night in the hotel supervised by Foley staff on their arrival day and will catch the bus the following morning with the other campers.  The cost of the overnight accommodation will be billed to you.

Campers will need to have spending money for their evening meal, breakfast, and any entertainment in the evening.  They will also need money for their luggage on the return trip if necessary.

International campers need to depart after 2:00 PM of the closing day of their session.

We strongly encourage international campers to fly unaccompanied minor to help with customs and transferring planes.  If flying unaccompanied minor, please make sure that the camper is not on the final flight from any city to the final destination (including connections) as they will not allow this camper to board the plane in Minneapolis. For more information about unaccompanied minor fees and regulations click on your airline below.

Contacting Home Upon Arrival in Minneapolis

If you would like to talk to your child on the phone, be sure they have either an international cell phone or phone card!

International Cell Phone: We suggest that campers carry this with them when they travel. Please make sure that they know how to use it and what phone numbers to call. NEW: If parents or campers have Blackberrys and use Blackberry Messenger - Please provide your PIN number on the Travel & Contact Form for better communication between directors and parents on the day of travel.

International Phone Card: Be sure they know how to use the phone card and have the phone numbers with them including the country codes.

The camp office will email the parents of international campers after their arrival in to the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport.  Please allow up to two hours after the expected arrival time for the email to be sent.

Canteen /Camp Store Deposit

We suggest that you authorize your camper to spend at least $100.00 in the camp store for the purchase of needed items or for gifts to bring home to their families.  We can rent blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags to our foreign campers.  Email Mary for more details.

Have A Discussion With Your Child

English is to be spoken while in camp!  Please stress the importance of speaking English to make friends and to create harmony.  As much as possible, we will help the situation by limiting the number of international campers in the same cabin and at activities.

Email

Although we do not allow our campers to email their parents, international campers may bring one page letters for their parents to the office.  We will scan and attach them to an email and send them to the email address we have on file for their parents.  We will NOT send emails to any email address other than the address listed for the parents in our files, so please be sure that we have accurate information.
